The goal of Jungian Individuation is not to be "perfect" but to become "whole" — which means integrating the shadows and allowing them to be a part of one's self. The alternative is to reject them and push them into the shadows, where they will act out and we will remain unconscious of them, and of why things just keep happening to us.

As Carl Jung said, "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it 'fate.'"
