Profiterole – Original ACEO Miniature Oil Painting
Biignè di San Giuseppe.
Every year, my Aunt Lucy's house became a cathedral of food.
The St. Joseph's Day table stretched as far as a child's eyes could see — piled high with the most wonderful Italian food and desserts, lovingly made by all of my aunts and my grandma. The priest would come and bless it. And then, for a few glorious hours, we feasted.
One year, a candle fell. There was a fire. And when it was put out, the table of food had burned into the shape of a cross. The next day, it was on the front page of the newspaper.
I miss it so much. Because there is no place in the world where you can get all that wonderful Italian food in one place — and the lovely women who made it exist only in my memories now.
Among other things, Grandma used to make the best profiterole. ❤️
This one is for her.
