Plain Cake Donut – Original Miniature Oil Painting

Of all the pretty donuts I love to drool over, my loyalty will always stand with the humble plain cake donut — my hands down favorite.

Sure, others have gooey fillings, colorful glazes, sprinkles and whipped cream. But that's all just window dressing.

No sprinkles. No glaze. No drama. Just a perfectly golden cake donut, painted in rich, textured oils with visible brushwork that makes the surface almost edible. The soft lavender-grey background gives it a quiet, contemplative mood — like a still life that knows exactly what it is.

Plain Cake Donut is a love letter to simplicity. To the things we reach for without thinking. To comfort that doesn't need to justify itself.

Admittedly, it's the only thing plain about me.

For the ones who know that plain is never really plain.
