Of all the pretty donuts I love to drool over, my loyalty will always stand with the humble plain cake donut — my hands down favorite.

Sure, others have gooey fillings, colorful glazes, sprinkles and whipped cream. But that's all just window dressing.

No sprinkles. No glaze. No drama. Just a perfectly golden cake donut, painted in rich, textured oils with visible brushwork that makes the surface almost edible. The soft lavender-grey background gives it a quiet, contemplative mood — like a still life that knows exactly what it is.
