Reverse Ding Dong – Original ACEO Miniature Oil Painting
It started as a cupcake. It had other ideas.
One day I was painting a cupcake and the frosting just wasn't cooperating. So I made a decision: forget the frosting. Dark chocolate ganache instead, swirled in rich, moody browns against a turquoise sky. And then — a single proud dollop of whipped cream right on top.
And then I thought about Ding Dongs.
A Ding Dong, if you don't know, is chocolate cake with a cream filling, coated in ganache. This is essentially the opposite: the ganache is on the outside, the cream is on top, and the whole thing is sitting in a little paper cup like it owns the place.
Hence: Reverse Ding Dong.
I don't know exactly what it means. I just know it's exactly right.
Painted in bold, expressive impasto oils — the brushstrokes as confident and unapologetic as the dessert itself.
For the ones who pivot mid-painting and end up somewhere better than they planned.
