The Shadow in My Pocket — Original ACEO Mini Painting
Some habits carry more than nicotine.
A pack of Marlboros tucked into a denim pocket — painted bold, close, unapologetic. The gold rivets catch the light. The red and white packaging is unmistakable. This is not a still life. This is a confession that refuses to apologize.
The Shadow in My Pocket is about the shame we inherit before we're old enough to question it. About the projections of others that land on us like verdicts. About the Jungian shadow — the parts of ourselves we're told to hide, to fix, to be ashamed of — and the radical act of painting them instead.
The cigarette is not the point. The shadow is.
And the shadow, when you finally look at it, is just a part of you that needs to be seen.
